The Robert Sorby ProEdge is a small and compact machine capable of sharpening most household and workshop tools and blades, and while it is on the “small and compact” scale, it is capable of so very much more than first impressions indicate.
ProEdge is a revolutionary sharpening system introduced by Robert Sorby on a scale that is available to anyone who wants to keep their tools sharp, whether they be a small workshop in the backyard or under the house, or commercial workshop with employees needing to keep their tools honed for best performance or even someone running a tools sharpening business.
It is capable of sharpening bench and framing chisels which usually feature a flat bevel, carving and turning chisels with both straight and curved bevels, drill bits, plane irons, knifes and garden tools.
Central to the ProEdge is an abrasive belt which is a quick and efficient method of putting a keen edge on each and every tool, which runs cool avoiding the chance of the belt and tool from overheating.
The ProEdge comes complete with aluminium oxide and zirconium belts with a selection of sizes in those materials and ceramic also available.
The integrated angle setter can be pre-set to 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 45, 60, 80 and 90 degree angles, or can be manually set to any other angle in between.
Included are a number of further accessories of value to the woodturner – a skew chisel jig, a fingernail gouge profiler and a standard gouge jig.
A wide range of different jigs and accessories are available to assist with creating and maintaining an optimal edge of a range of household and workshop tools and blades.
The ProEdge belt runs at 440m/min or 1440ft/min.
