Saffron Heart
Saffron Heart (*Halfordia kendack*) is a rare north Queensland rainforest hardwood from the Rutaceae (citrus) family — the same family as East Indian Satinwood. Golden-yellow heartwood, fine straight grain, very high density, and a natural luster that earned the satinwoods their name. Documented in a 1936 Queensland trade survey as “one of the greatest fishing rod timbers in the world” — used at the time for rods supplied to English Royalty.
