At the Lathe
In use you hold the sleeve, not the cutter, and rest the bevel face flat on the abrasive. The cutter rotates inside the jig as you work it across the stone or belt, which keeps the rounded edge consistent all the way around instead of flattening one side. It’s the kind of small accessory that belongs in the same drawer as the rest of your turning tools, and it comes up often enough in our woodturning courses when students are learning to keep carbide and HSS cutters properly maintained.
