Macrocarpa (Cupressus macrocarpa, Monterey Cypress) at 50×200mm, the wide section, milled from mature Australian windbreak trees. Warm golden-tan heartwood with the occasional darker streak, natural cedar-resin scent of fresh-cut cypress, and the working ease that has made the species the first choice for outdoor cabinetry across New Zealand and Australia.

Wide and thick enough for bench tops, garden furniture, and outdoor shelving without gluing up boards edge to edge. Light for its section, easier to move and handle than hardwood slabs of the same dimensions.

Working Properties

• Hardness: Soft. Light for its section; easy to lift, shape, and fix in place.
• Grain: Straight to softly wavy, even ring structure. Machines well with sharp tooling.
• Machining: Occasional resin pockets; plane or scrape past them, not structural. Glues and fixes cleanly.
• Surface: Supplied rough-sawn. Dress one face true before glue-up or fixing.
• Finishing: Outdoor: exterior oil restores colour seasonally. Indoor: Rustins Danish oil or tung oil for a warm hand-finished surface.
