Robert Sorby Standard Skew Chisel 1-1/4in Unhandled
This skew chisel unhandled is a 1-1/4in blade sold on its own, so you can fit a handle to suit your own grip and lathe. It’s a heavier pattern with rounded corners that won’t catch the tool rest, and this is the last of our stock.
Why Robert Sorby
Robert Sorby has forged HSS turning tools in Sheffield since 1828, and this blade is standard Sorby engineering — well balanced, evenly ground, and consistent from one skew chisel unhandled blade to the next. Robert Sorby still grinds it to the same profile today.
Specs
- 1-1/4in blade width
- Unhandled — blade only, fit your own handle
- Heavier pattern with rounded corners
- Rounded corners sit clear of the tool rest
- Sovereign handle compatible
At the Lathe
Use it for smoothing cylinders, cutting clean end grain, rolling beads and cutting sharp V-cuts, all of which rely on the rounded corners staying well clear of the rest as you plane along the work. Skew technique is one of the trickier skills we cover in our woodturning courses, and this blade sits comfortably alongside the rest of our turning tools.
Limited Stock — While It Lasts
This is the last of our Robert Sorby skew chisel unhandled stock, and once it’s sold the listing closes for good. No restock is coming, so this is it while stocks last.
