Timber with a personal story

If you went to a wood show in the ’90s, you would have seen Trend Timbers in all its glory. We went BIG on our display: a full frame of QLD silkwood. We chose this species because it was light enough to haul everywhere we went, and it was strong. Sadly, those wood shows are no longer around and we don’t have the room to store these boards, so we are cutting them up and selling them off.

These boards are dressed all round to 120 × 25mm, with a small roundover on each corner and a light oil finish that comes off with a little sanding. There will be a few cosmetic dings and scratches, but that is all part of the history.

Why QLD Silkwood Is Worth a Look

The colour is the first thing you notice: a warm reddish brown with golden tones that shift as the light moves across the board. The grain runs long and even down the length, with a gentle figure through the face. Each piece was made to be seen, so they arrive with rounded corners and a finish already on all four sides.

What You Get

• Finish: Finished on all four sides, ready to use as is or freshen up with a light sand.
• Edges: Rounded corners along the length.
• Condition: A few cosmetic dings and scratches from their years on the show stand.
• Grain: Long and even along the board.
• Refinishing: For a fresh coat, we recommend Rustins Danish oil, EEE-Ultra Shine or Shellawax to bring out the warmth of the colour.
