Product Details

Everything you need to build a camphor laurel serving board from scratch — a great weekend project to do with the kids.

What’s in the kit

  • One camphor laurel mini-slab, dressed on both faces, ready to work (choose your size below)
  • Four sheets of sandpaper — 80, 120, 240, and 320 grit
  • U-Beaut Foodsafe Oil 250mL — Australian-made, non-toxic, food-safe for boards that touch food
  • Step-by-step finishing guide (PDF, included with your order)

How it works

Sand through the grits in order — 80 to remove any mill marks, 120 to smooth, 240 to refine, 320 for a silky finish. Wipe on the foodsafe oil, leave overnight, and it’s done. Camphor laurel takes oil beautifully and the grain shifts from pale straw to warm green depending on the light — the kind of board that gets noticed when it comes out at dinner.

Camphor laurel is naturally food-safe and has a mild, pleasant scent while you work it. These slabs are dressed on both faces and ready for the sanding stage — no milling required.

A Note on Our Wood Products

Please remember that the photos you see are indicative only. As a beautiful, natural material, wood inherently varies in grain, colour, and figure. While we meticulously select outstanding pieces to send your way, each item will possess its own unique charm. We believe these natural variations are part of what makes our wood products so special and truly one-of-a-kind.

Kiln dried and ready to work

All of our timber is kiln dried to Australian standards, so it arrives stable and ready to be worked.

Because timber is a natural product, not all stock is ready to send immediately. Occasionally we need to mill your timber to the size you’ve specified before dispatch.
