Description
One of Trend Timbers premium Wood Blanks species!
Mahogany has been used for centuries. Plantation of this species was essential to ensure its survival and meet the growing demands of the timber market.
Initially from South America, this species is now purely plantation grown in Fiji.
The move to a more tropic climate has seen the Mahogany thrive. This has ensured its cementation as a forerunner in our history of using timber as one of the most user-variable.
Uses Include:
- Wood-turning
- wood-carving
- boat and kayak building
- fine furniture
- joinery and cabinetry
- a staple of the musical instrument industry especially in guitar making.
Technically a hardwood, the Plantation Mahogany’s workability is often comparable to the ease of some other carving species that are softwoods.
Recently it was also discovered to be termite resistant an essential characteristic for many Australian woodworkers.
Sizes and Colour:
May vary due to being a natural product, for larger quantities your inquiry is key for availability.
When deciding on sizing required, it’s always better to allow larger specifications than you need, you can always remove more stock, you can’t add it back on later.
For projects larger than the available sizing, consider laminating multiple wood blanks to achieve your desired size.
All timber is sourced from sustainable and ecologically friendly sources and is kiln dried to Australian Quality Standards.
We have hand selected a range of quality species perfect for beginners and long term woodworkers both. Now available online!
If further information required regarding this species, sizing, availability or more, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly and our staff will be happy to help.
