Description
Purple Heart Wood Blanks. Originating from South America is one of, if not the most, uniquely coloured timbers that changes rapidly from grey/brown to violet/burgundy with UV (Ultra-Violet) sunlight exposure.
Used in:
- Woodturning
- Fine Box-making
- Joinery and Cabinetry
This species offers a highly unique contrasting addition to any project and looks nice with either darker or lighter toned woods. Density is relatively easy to work, as always we recommend sharp tools to begin any project.
Our number one question regarding this species is “What have you put on it to make it go that colour?” when we reply simply “Sunlight!” we still get joy out of our customers realising that such a beauty exists in nature and is available for them to work with.
Sizes and Colour:
May vary due to being a natural product, for larger quantities inquiry is key for availability.
When deciding on sizing required, it’s always better to allow larger specifications than you need, you can always remove more stock, you can’t add it back on later.
For projects larger than the available sizing, consider laminating multiple wood blanks to achieve your desired stock size.
All timber is sourced from sustainable and ecologically friendly sources and is kiln dried to Australian Quality Standards.
