Coachwood is one of New South Wales’s signature native species — a pale creamy-yellow heartwood with a subtle pink cast that warms and deepens with age and light. Working Properties on the Lathe

• Janka Hardness: ~5.5 kN — medium density, clean under tools
• Grain: Fine, straight, close-textured — minimal tear-out
• Turning: Excellent — holds sharp detail, finishes smooth off the gouge
• Finishing: Takes oils, wax, shellac and lacquer beautifully — finish with Danish oil, EEE-Ultra Shine or Shellawax for a soft satin sheen
• Machining: Works cleanly with hand and power tools, sands easily
